Tools and Materials

  • Charcoal or Wood Fire
  • Long tongs or spatula to turn turtles
  • Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil

INGREDIENTS

The following are options to include in your silver turtle, selection is personal choice

  • Protein
    • Chicken (Uncooked)
    • Link Sausage (Smoked or Pre-cooked)
    • Beef (avoid ground beef – uncooked stew meat or steak is best)
    • Salmon (Uncooked)
  • Vegetables (Cut to small pieces – No bigger than 1/2in)
    • Potato
    • Carrot
    • Celery
    • Cherry Tomato
  • Seasoning
    • Salt & Pepper
    • Lemon Pepper
    • Tony Chachere’s
    • Garlic or Garlic Powder

PREPARATION

  • Prepare charcoal or coals from fire
    • Charcoal can take 20-30mins to reach optimum temperature
  • Cut Protein and Veggies into bite size pieces
    • Smaller pieces will cook faster and more thoroughly
  • Fold Foil Packet
    • Begin with a piece of heavy duty foil about 12″x24″
    • Fold the foil in “half” but leaving about 2″ overhang
    • Fold the top portion back. Creasing approximately 1 inch above the previous fold
    • Fold the opposite way, aligning 3rd crease with 1st crease
    • Fold the sides (perpendicular to creases) in 3-4 times.  Make each fold about half an inch thick
    • You have now created a pouch.  Carefully expand the bottom and fill with your ingredients.
