DESCRIPTION:Our November Pack Meeting will focus on food and mealtimes\, using the same interactive format that we used in October. We will also continue to use Pack Meetings to help our Scouts advance in ranks\, making progress toward the Adventures required to continue toward the Arrow of Light. Emphasis will be placed on nutrition\, planning\, and meals that Scouts might make on their own. Den Chiefs from Troop 55 will once again be assisting with demonstrations and guidance for their younger Scout counterparts. Families should leave this meeting feeling more confident and prepared for meals at home and on a campsite. All Scouts are encouraged to attend.\nWe are meeting outdoors\, on the North Lawn at SJD. Please bring a camp chair or blanket for your comfort. Also\, don’t forget your headlamps and flashlights – it will be dark! DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, December 16\, 2021 @ 6:45 PM\, North Lawn SJD: November Pack Meeting:\nJoin Pack 55 for our final Pack Meeting of 2021. We’ll be convening on the North Lawn at St. John the Divine at 6:45 on Thursday 12/16. For our December meeting we will be reviving a much-loved Pack tradition: a snowball fight. For those new to this longstanding tradition\, we will not be importing machinery from Colorado to manufacture frozen white powder. Rather\, we’ll ask each family to arm their child with white athletic socks bundled in pairs. While not as cold as actual snow\, these bundles are just as much fun to throw at friends. Once the activities are complete we will gather the socks for donation to the Star of Hope Mission\, a local homeless shelter. Each family is asked to bring at least three pairs of socks\, and we appreciate you joining us in supporting this local cause. Bring a camp chair for your comfort. Please wear a face mask when social distancing is not possible.\nPinewood Derby car kits will be available for pickup at the Pack Meeting so you can work on them over the holidays.\nReminder: Bring your Part A/B Health Form to this meeting as well\, if you have not turned them in. Bring buckets and tools for digging (garden tools and small shovels work\, nothing big required). My kids love this place\, and they have asked to go back this Spring\, so we figured we would open it up to anyone else interested. It is a bit of a drive\, but you can make a day of it and see the Texas countryside. RSVP and text Ethan Perry (832-580-2756) to let me know you are coming so we can watch for you.\nSatisfies various electives at all ranks (Digging the Past\, Wolf; Super Science\, Bear; Earth Rocks!\, Webelos and various STEM Nova/Supernova requirements).\nYou will see a place to park on the railroad trestle side of the highway. Park on the dirt\, watching for road debris. Bring everything you need (food\, water). There are no bathroom facilities at the old railroad bridge. Nearest facilities will be at stores/gas stations along the highway in either direction.
