May 14 @ RICE BASEBALL and Rockets – Twin Bayou District’s Scout Day at Rice University; All Scouts are Welcome! Launch a Rocket 10-11:30 AM, and stay for the Ballgame at 2 PM

The information below is being sent on behalf of our Twin Bayou District. This is not a Pack 55 sponsored event, but we do encourage your participation, if you are interested. It looks like a lot of fun! Email with questions or to sign up! Come enjoy some rocketry and some good baseball all in one place. Participating scouts should be in their Field (Class A) blue or khaki uniform in order to participate in the on-field activities ahead of the ballgame.

May 14 – RICE BASEBALL and Rockets
Rice has invited all Twin Bayou Scouts who are attending the Scout Day at Rice Baseball to attend our rocket launch at Rice.

All Scouts who have a ticket to the Rice game ($10) may participate in the launch.
Parking for the day is $10 cash in West Lot 4.
Launch Times: 10:00 am to 12:30 am (arrive before 11:30am to launch a rocket)
Launch Location: Intramural Field 6, adjacent to Reckling Park.
-Registered Scouts must supply their own rockets and engines.
-We will have launch pads and controllers on site. The pads and controllers are built to fly Estes rockets.
-Rockets must fly at lower altitudes. A engine and short thrust B (B-4) engine launches only. We need to recover the rocket in the field where we launch.
-Rockets should not exceed 22 inches in length (the size of an Estes Flying Colors rocket).
-Cub Scouts who registered since January 2022 can bring your “Rocket into Scouting” rocket and we will supply an engine while supplies last.

You can buy most supplies at the Houston Scout Shop, local hobby stores – like G&G Model Shop and Hobby Lobby, and Amazon.
-We will have computer with Internet connection for SCOUTING SIGN UPS!
-Cub Scouts – Invite your friends. If they sign up to join your Cub Scout Pack at our event, Sam Houston Area Council will provide them a rocket and engine to fly.
-Our New Scout rockets are limited while our supplies last.
We need at least 4 more volunteers for launch safety. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 9:30 a.m. for set-up

-On-Campus Parking is $10 CASH – but since this event is in our backyards, there are other great ways to get to campus!
-Uniforms are required to participate in the on-field events.
-Scouts will receive entry onto the Field for pre-game festivities.
