Pack 55 Summertime Activity #1 – Service (Hermann Park)

Welcome to the start of summer, Pack 55 families! The forecast this summer is for HOT weather and plenty of Scouting fun!
Do a Good Turn Daily – the importance of service to others in Scouting.
For our first of three Summertime Pack 55 Events, we will volunteer as a group for the Hermann Park Conservancy from 9 AM – 11 AM on Sunday, June 26. We will then have a BBQ and Ice Cream at a picnic area at Hermann Park from 11 AM to Noon. This (and all non-camping Pack 55 events) is a recruiting event: bring your family, friends, and any prospective cub scouts to join in this fun event! Hermann Park is one of the treasures of Houston, and we are looking forward to partnering with the Conservancy to improve the grounds for the public’s enjoyment.
This volunteer work will consist of raking and trail cleanup, as well as any other tasks the Hermann Park Conservancy would like done. Duties will be skill/age appropriate.
All Pack 55 volunteers should meet at the Pedal Boat Kiosk (see attached map) at 9 AM. Parking is available in the nearby parking lots. If you have questions, please contact Ethan Perry, 832-580-2756.
Projects: Range from weeding, mulching, raking trails/grounds to removing invasive plants. Projects are subject to change depending on the needs of the park at the time of the project.
Clothing:
Bring: Individual water bottles, snacks (recommended during warm months); completed HPC waivers/photo releases for all participants (this includes leaders, chaperones, teachers, adults and youth). Required forms were attached to previous email; please print and bring with you to the event.
Equipment Provided: gloves, tools, and a cooler of water with paper cups. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own tools to supplement tools provided by the Hermann Park Conservancy.
We will have coolers with ice water, but please also bring your own water and sun protection as well. RSVP in Scoutbook AND at the Google Form link below so we know how many people to expect and how much food and ice cream to have on hand:
