My name is Colton Thompson, a former ASPL and current Troop Guide to Chunky Monkey Patrol. This weekend on February 22nd, I will be holding my Eagle Scout project at Freed Park.
For my project, we will be planting 3000 seedlings of native tree species to restore the park’s environment. The project counts as conservation hours and for scouts who went on the Lake Saimaa Canoe Trek or are going on Philmont 2025, it will be allowed to count towards the 50 Miler award.
The project will be two sessions from 9 am to 12 pm and 12 pm to 3 pm, with lunch provided in between. It’s not necessary to attend both, but if you can it would be greatly appreciated. Due to the scale of the project, a large number of volunteers would be great.
Also, if you are attending, please be sure to bring a pair of work gloves and a water bottle, and sign the waiver form below as well.

Parking at Freed Park is extremely limited, so if you are planning on parking, please go to Woodland Park. (212 Parkview St) If you’re being dropped off you can meet the group at Woodland Park or go straight to Freed, which is on the corner of Houston Ave and White Oak Dr.
